NOTIFICATION FOR ADMISSION UNDER NON RESIDENT INDIANS (NRI)/FOREIGN NATIONALS (FN) CATEGORIES
(LL.B. & LL.M. PROGRAMMES)


1. Notification for Admission under NRI Category (LL.B. & LL.M. Programmes)

The seats under the NRI Category shall be filled by the University directly from the merit list of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) – 2019.

The candidates appearing in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) – 2019 and interested in seeking admission under the NRI Category for LL.B. & LL.M Programmes, subject to satisfying eligibility criteria and fulfilling any one of the below mentioned conditions, can apply directly by sending expression of interest by filling the ‘Admission (Expression of Interest) Form’. The admission (expression of interest) form will be made available on the GNLU website during the first/second week of May 2019.

Conditions:

I. At least one of the parents of such candidates shall be a Non Resident Indian and shall ordinarily be residing abroad as a Non Resident Indian;

OR

II. The person who sponsors the candidate for admission shall be in the first degree relation with the candidate and shall be ordinarily residing abroad as a Non Resident Indian;

OR

III. If the candidate has no parents or no near relatives or has not been taken as a ward by some other nearest relative, such candidates may also be considered for admission under the NRI category, provided that the guardian has bonafidely treated the candidate as a ward and shall be able to file an affidavit indicating the interest shown in the educational affairs of the candidate and his/her relationship with the candidate. Further, such person (guardians) shall be a Non Resident Indian and ordinarily residing abroad as a Non Resident Indian;

OR

IV. The Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card holders are also eligible for admission under the NRI seats available at GNLU.

Note: The candidates securing minimum 40% of the highest score of the CLAT – 2019 shall only be considered eligible for admission under this category. For example: If the CLAT – 2019 highest score is 150, then only those candidates who are securing minimum of 60 marks or above shall be considered eligible for admission under NRI Category.

2. Notification for Admission under FN Category (LL.B. & LL.M. Programmes)

The seats under the FN Category shall be filled by the University directly and the candidates seeking admission under this category shall not require to appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) – 2019.

Interested candidates, satisfying the edibility criteria mentioned below, can apply directly by sending expression of interest by filling the ‘Admission (Expression of Interest) Form’. The admission (expression of interest) form will be made available on the GNLU website during the first/second week of May 2019.

I. Eligibility criteria for admission to LL.B. Programme:

  • Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with the minimum of 45% marks.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2019 are also eligible to apply.

II. Eligibility criteria for admission to LL.M. Programme:

  • LL.B. or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 55% marks.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2019 are also eligible to apply.

Note: The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
