Job Profile
  • Assist in the collection development process, including selection, acquisition, accessioning, cataloging, classification, and physical processing of library materials in accordance with established policies and standards.
  • Provide reference and information services by assisting users in locating books, journals, e-resources, and databases; support students, researchers, and faculty in research activities and resolving reference queries.
  • Manage and maintain serials and periodicals, including subscription, renewal, accessioning, binding, and record-keeping; coordinate with vendors and publishers for timely procurement.
  • Oversee circulation services such as issue, return, renewal, reservation, and fine management using KOHA Library Management Systems (LMS) or other automated tools.
  • Maintain and update library databases, OPAC, and digital repositories; ensure proper indexing, metadata creation, and accessibility of electronic resources.
  • Assist in stock verification, shelf rectification, weeding out obsolete materials, and maintaining accurate library records.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of digital library services, including institutional repositories, e-books, and online journals.
  • Conduct user orientation and information literacy programs to educate students and staff on effective use of library resources and services.
  • Ensure proper arrangement, shelving, and preservation of library materials, including binding, repair, and conservation activities.
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and documentation related to library usage, acquisitions, and other administrative activities.
  • Coordinate with faculty and departments for resource requirements, syllabus support, and recommendation of new materials.
  • Assist in organizing library events, exhibitions, book displays, and awareness programs.
  • Ensure adherence to library rules, policies, and standard operating procedures while maintaining a user-friendly environment.
