1905-18/1325/01: Dr RK Singh, Dean (Academic Affairs) & Associate Professor of Law, addressed a session at the '4th Global Exhibition on Services 2018', Mumbai


Dr RK Singh, Dean (Academic Affairs) & Associate Professor of Law, attended the '4th Global Exhibition on Services 2018' and addressed a session on the theme 'Educating 21st Century Lawyers: The Role of Law Schools' on 17 May 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. 

Global Exhibition Services (GES) is an annual flagship global event organised by the Department of Commerce (DoC), Government of India, dedicated to promote trade in services while facilitating interactions among stakeholders to enhance strategic cooperation and strengthen multilateral relationships. As part of the Professional Services sector, this edition had a dedicated session on Legal Services. 

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law, IIFT partnered with the Department of Commerce, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), in holding the '4th Global Exhibition on Services from 15-18 May 2018' at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. 

Although the whole event was spread over four days (15-18 May 2018), the session on 'Indian Legal Services, A Champion Sector: New Realities, New Horizons' was organised on 17 May 2018. Besides Dr RK Singh, the other members on the Panel for this session were: Mr Justice BN Srikrishna (Former Judge, Supreme Court of India), Shri Sudhanshu Pandey (Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India), Prof BP Panda (Vice-Chancellor, MNLU), Dr Paritosh Basu [Chair Professor of MBA (Law) Programme, NMIMS], Ms Shamim Modi (Chairperson, Centre for Law & Society, TISS), Prof James Nedumpara (Head, Centre for Trade & Investment Law), Mr Sanjay Notani (Partner, Economic Laws Practice), and Mr Zameer Nathani (Director, Legal, Raymond Ltd).

In his address, Dr Singh underlined the following: legal education, emergence of NLUs, Research Based Teaching University concept and curriculum development. In the end, he also suggested that our focus should be on Advance Learning (LLM, etc programmes).
