Suggestions on Vaccination Policy for the Persons with Disabilities to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities
The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, by an order dated 25th January, 2022 in the case of Evara Foundation v. Union of India, WP (C) 580/2021 directed the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to invite suggestions and response from all stakeholders and domain experts in the area of disability with regard to existing facilities and suggestions for further upgradation of the existing framework of vaccination for the Persons with Disabilities and to make it more effective. In view of the same, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the National Trust invited suggestions from the concerned stakeholders for ensuring vaccination of the persons with disabilities in a seamless and effective manner.
In light of the same, Gujarat National Law University Centre for Disability Studies (GCDS), on behalf of their research team consisting of Dr. A. Marisport, Centre Head GCDS and Assistant Professor of Law and Mr. Harshit Goel, Teaching and Research Associate (Law) submitted their suggestions on Vaccination Policy for the Persons with Disabilities. These suggestions mainly included making the vaccination policy inclusive for PWDs, vaccine related information to be made accessible, setting-up of special and accessible vaccination centres and introduction of doorstep vaccination system.
Suggestions on Draft guidelines “Comprehensive Accessibility Guidelines and Standards for Higher Education Institutions and Universities” to UGC
University Grants Commission invited suggestions on draft guidelines on “Comprehensive Accessibility Guidelines and Standards for Higher Education Institutions and Universities” for making easy access to higher education for PWDs. Gujarat National Law University Centre for Disability Studies (GCDS), on behalf of their research team consisting of Dr. A. Marisport, Centre Head GCDS and Assistant Professor of Law and Mr. Harshit Goel, Teaching and Research Associate (Law) submitted their suggestions on the draft guidelines. These suggestions mainly included making the environment and infrastructure of Higher Education Institutes accessible and inclusive.
Knowledge Partner in MDP 2022
University School of Management Studies (USMS), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi organised a two-day Management Development Programme 2022 titled “Introduction to Disability & Workplace Accessibility: Issues, Initiatives & Challenges” wherein GNLU Centre for Disability Studies (GCDS) was knowledge Partner. As part of the collaboration, GCDS helped the organisers by providing resource persons for MDP and Dr. A. Marisport, Head GCDS took a session on ‘Web Accessibility’.
