Message from the desk of Dean Research

Research is the backbone of academics and GNLU has taken serious efforts in this direction. GNLU has established a dedicated Research Division and has appointed a dedicated research cadre comprising of Assistant Professors for research, Teaching and research associates and research associates. The division, anticipating the requirement of applying quantitative tools in legal studies has endeavored on conducting workshops on empirical legal methods with an aim of capacity building for students and research associates of the university. Currently there are sixteen ongoing Government funded empirical research projects on important legal areas with the application of multidisciplinary understanding

After capacity building in both interdisciplinary approach and legal empirical methods, GNLU is focusing on capacity building in the understanding and application of big data which is imperative for analysis of important legal debates like ADHAR and Privacy Bill for which workshops and seminars are being conducted.

Further, recognizing the need to fill the gap between academic, government and industry research division has created fellowship in important emerging areas. These fellowships work with funds constituted by private sector giants like Microsoft, Government departments like Gujcost, Law firms like Khaitan and Co etc. and are placed under the aegis of the GNLU Centres of excellence headed by faculty members.

All the timely and futuristic initiatives taken by the Research Division have created valuable skill sets suited to modern day research, have contributed to a serious research culture and has taken strides in knowledge creation by way of publications by faculty members and dissemination of emerging scholarship among the students, thus contributing to the academic enrichment at GNLU.
